Screw Conveyor
Screw conveyors are used in hundreds of different industries today. They are relatively low cost and low maintenance in relation to other types of conveying equipment and can be specifically designed with a variety of different features to suit each particular application.
Advantages include the following:
Screw conveyors are capable of handling a great variety of bulk materials from sluggish to free-flowing.
Flexibility – They can have multiple inlet and discharge points. Bulk materials can be conveyed and distributed to various locations as required. Slide gates or valves can be added to control the flow into and out of a screw conveyor.
Metering – They can be used as a metering device to take product from a hopper or bin into the process stream.
Low space requirements – These are very compact and adaptable to congested locations.
Enclosed – They are totally enclosed so the product is contained and there is little chance of spillage
Adaptable – These can be used in the horizontal, vertical or any inclined position depending upon the product being handled.
Screw conveyors can be designed without a centre pipe. This type of conveyor is called a shaftless screw conveyor or centreless screw conveyor and is designed for conveying wet, sticky, sluggish products such as industrial sludges and larger irregular shaped products.
Screw conveyors can be used for mixing various products together and can also be used as a de-lumper on some products.
Screw conveyors can be used to cool or heat the product being conveyed. They can be jacketed, or have a hollow-flight design used to provide the necessary heat transfer or cooling required.
Screw conveyors can provide an air lock in the process stream
Screw conveyors can be manufactured in a variety of materials to suit your particular requirements – mild steel, stainless steel, abrasion resistant material.
Screw conveyors can be designed for easy cleaning. They can incorporate quick removable covers, drop-bottom casings, and internal spray systems – all to you’re your application.
